SEAN ERBE
broken, abandoned places and things. I am inspired by the way folktales and legends grow, evolve and develop layers overtime as they become ingrained in a people, culture or place. When creating acrylic paintings and assemblages, a similar process of figurative and physical layering takes place on the canvas. I enjoy the challenge of bringing disparate materials and ideas together into an amalgamation imbued with the spirits and iconography associated with stories of antiquity. Each repurposed component of a finished piece contributes it’s own history to a new chapter in a story that continues to be written by whomever the work resides with next.
