JANE WELLS HARRISON
Jane Wells Harrison is an artist working primarily with paint media, often encaustic. Collage is usually an element of her work; therefore her paintings can be characterized as shape and color based abstractions. Making work serves as an interface between herself and the socio-political environment; and so any underlying content is frequently prompted by current events both personal and global.
She received a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from East Carolina University where she was especially influenced by professors Paul Hartley and Robert Ebendorf.
Jane has taught at East Carolina University, Pocosin Arts, Caldwell Community College, and Penland School of Crafts. She maintains her studio practice in Happy Valley, near Lenoir, North Carolina. Her work has been shown many times in group and solo shows regionally and nationally.
